Email Tips-Part 1
Since the holidays are coming up and everyone is busy, we've decided to dedicate the next several weeks to some short email tips that you can implement into your email program quickly.
This "mini tip" has to do with disclosing the subscriber's email address in the email message itself.
You may be thinking, "I've sent them an email. Isn't the email address obvious?"
The answer is "it depends."
With people having multiple email accounts, often piping into one mail client, they may forget what they signed up for, when they signed up, and so on, they may forget what email address they've used, not to mention when they signed up and why.
And while most ISPs don't look at this, there are several that HAVE listed this in their best practices and guidelines and this can help improve both inbox placement AND subscriber experience.
It doesn't necessarily matter whether you put this information in the header section of your message or the footer, and you may choose to test both. However, most will likely prefer it at the bottom in order to maximize screen real estate.
Example:
You are receiving this email because someone from your email address, {insert email address}, signed up to receive {whatever they may have signed up for, the types of offers you send, etc.} on {date} with the following IP address: {ip address}.
Then you can follow this statement with your unsubscribe & manage subscription information along with your company name, mailing address, and any other information you typically include in your message.
